Holiday Season / New Features

Wow, It's been over a year since I last posted on this blog. Now that the busy holiday season is upon us again, we're starting to see more traffic on the site again, which is nice. During this last year we have had over 100 people sign up for ListYourWish. Hopefully by this time next year it will be 1,000!

I know that some of you have expressed interest in new features added to ListYourWish. Of them, the most popular is to be able to "watch" your family or buddy's list.

If you have other requests for functionality for ListYourWish, please add them into the comments section below. This is also the place to let me know if something is not working properly on the site.

I know of 2 features that are broken right now: recurring events are not being added back to the event list automatically; and the "opt out" link on the emails does not appear to work. These will be fixed soon!

One last note, if you purchase something from someones list remember to "mark it as purchased" so someone else does not get the same gift :)

New Feature: Purchased Items

Now you can mark items as "Purchased" and then view purchased items for each person's wish list.

It's very simple: after you've purchased something go to the persons wish list and click on "Mark as Purchased?" next to the item you've purchased. Make sure you click on OK in the box that pops up.

ListYourWish lens on Squidoo

I've added a lens on Squidoo for ListYourWish. Check it out here.
If you don't know what Squidoo is all about you can read up on it here; but it's basically a place for someone to write about, promote, or just share anything they want. My goal for putting up a lens about ListYourWish is to ultimately drive more traffic to our fantastic service and make it a world-wide phenomenon ;) or at least the best wish list service out there.

We've Decided on a Design

After many constructive comments and email responses about our design sketches we've decided to go with Design #3 for this holiday season.

Thank you all very much for contributing to the success of this idea!
I'll keep you updated with new features and changes made to listyourwish.com as well as when the new design is live on the site!

Lastly, if you would like to be notified when I write new things about ListYourWish then put your email address in the box to the right and you'll get the information sent directly to your email box.

New Feature: Avatars!

We've added avatars to your profile on listyourwish.com!

"What is an avatar" you might ask? If you've ever had an account on a webpage somewhere and they allowed you to upload your own picture to personalize it, you've seen an avatar. You can view my ListYourWish avatar here.

"Should I use an avatar?" Maybe, maybe not. It's really up to you and how "fun" you want to be :)

You can upload your own avatar by signing into your wish list and then clicking on your "profile."

Don't forget to share ListYourWish with your friends and family!

ListYourWish.com design sketches

Alright, here are some design concepts for us to look at for the List Your Wish website.
Please look them over and write your comments in the comments section below the post.
One thing to keep in mind is that we would like to have different "themes" for different seasons and holidays. In addition to your comments about the designs please tell me which one you think we should use for this upcoming Christmas/holiday season.
You can click on each image to view a larger size.
